# Zero-Click Threat Assessment

On this page

## What Are Zero-Click Threats?

Zero-click threats are search queries where AI engines (Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity) generate direct answers, potentially eliminating the need for users to click through to your site. Topicker identifies these threats and calculates a Zero-Click Threat Score (ZCTS) for each affected keyword.

## Understanding Threat Scores

Each threatened keyword receives a Zero-Click Threat Score (ZCTS) from 0 to 100. Scores of 60+ (red) indicate high risk — AI engines are actively generating answers that satisfy user intent without a click. Scores of 40-59 (amber) indicate moderate risk. Scores below 40 (green) indicate low risk where traditional click-through behaviour remains dominant.

## Strategic Pivots

For each high-threat keyword, Topicker recommends a strategic pivot — a content strategy change designed to maintain traffic despite zero-click behaviour. Common pivots include: targeting related long-tail queries, creating content that requires deeper engagement than a snippet can provide, and optimising for branded searches where you're the authoritative source.

## No Threats Identified

If no zero-click threats are found, your content is well-positioned to capture click-through traffic for your target keywords. This typically means your content targets queries where users need detailed, nuanced information that AI snippets can't fully satisfy.
